BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's top economic planner, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), has given consent to building of a new railway project from Shanghai via Suzhou to Huzhou on Wednesday.
The new railway line will start from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, with a stopover in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and end at Huzhou Railway Station in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The overall length of the main project is 163.54 kilometers, with six stations including four new ones.
The project requires a total investment of 36.795 billion yuan.
The new railway project will help improve the transportation network layout of the Yangtze River Delta Area and promote the development of regional economic and social integration. (Edited by Wu Shuang, wushuang2018@xinhua.org)
