BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The BZ19-6 gas field development project of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has obtained high-yield natural gas flow, marking major breakthrough for deep natural gas exploration in Bohai bay basin.
Proven reserves in the Bohai bay basin were mainly crude oil, and there has been no discovery of large-scale gas fields in the past fifty years of exploration, according to a report by Shanghai Securities News.
The BZ19-6 project has developed ten wells so far with test drilling obtaining high-yield gas that indicating large natural gas reserves, according to Xue Yongan, chief geologist of the CNOOC Bohai petroleum administrative bureau. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
