BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- China is expected to export 70 million metric tons (tonnes) of steel this year, the Xinhua-run cnstock reported on Friday.
In coming months, China's steel exports will maintain a monthly level of about 6 million tonnes, predicted by Xu Xiangchun, an analyst of Mysteel, a domestic steel information provider.
China exported 5.95 million tonnes of steel, up 1.3 percent month on month and 15.8 percent year on year, in September. In the first nine months of the year, it exported 53.083 million tonnes of steel, down 10.7 percent year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Meanwhile, China imported 1.204 million tonnes of steel in September, up 13.5 percent from the previous month and down 2.9 percent year on year. In January-September, it imported 9.966 million tonnes of steel, down 0.4 percent year on year, said the GAC. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
