BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China will further promote high-quality development of the modern post industry, Ma Shengjun, director with State Post Bureau of the People’s Republic of China said on October 9, which was also the day of World Post Day.
Ma said that since the reform of the postal system, the comprehensive strength of the postal industry in China has been significantly enhanced. China's postal industry has provided useful lessons and successful experiences for the world, and contributed a lot to the transformation and development of the global postal industry and industry governance.
According to the statistics released by State Post Bureau of China, the total business volume of the postal industry in the country reached 976.4 billion yuan in 2017, up 32 percent year on year, and the business revenue of the industry totaled 662.3 billion yuan, up 23 percent year on year.
In 2017, the volume of express delivery in the country exceeded 40 billion pieces, taking the first place in the world for four consecutive years. The annual volume of business accounted for more than 45 percent of the total in the world. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
