BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The insurance sector in China saw the compensation expenses stand at 796.5 billion yuan in the first eight months this year, according to China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
The insurance sector continues to promote economic and social development, said Xiao Yuanqi, spokesperson of CBIRC, adding that from January to August this year, the export credit insurance premium reached 10 billion yuan, and the insurance coverage was 2.5 trillion yuan, which played an active role in stabilizing foreign trade.
In terms of life insurance, critical illness insurance, health insurance, earthquake catastrophe insurance, and personal tax-deferred commercial pension insurance have maintained a growth momentum. (Edited by Wu Shuang, wushuang2018@xinhua.org)
