China's Shanghai Airlines receives its 1st Boeing 787 Dreamliner -- U.S. aircraft giant Boeing Company delivered its first 787-9 Dreamliner passenger jet to Shanghai Airlines on September 22 as the Chinese carrier looks to upgrade its regional and long-range service from its base in China's largest city. The first 787-9 Dreamliner, bearing a the number "100" on its fuselage, is the 100th airplane for Shanghai Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines.

China Development Bank sees funding for Africa exceed 50 bln USD -- China Development Bank (CDB), the world's largest development finance institution, has so far channeled more than 50 billion U.S. dollars of investment and financing for African nations. The funds went to nearly 500 projects in 43 African countries, according to Liu Yong, CDB spokesperson and chief economist.

China's Shaanxi Blower (Group) extends presence along Belt & Road routes -- Shaanxi Blower (Group) Co., Ltd ("Shaangu" for short), now a system solution provider in the field of distributed energy after 50 years of development in northwest China's Xi'an City, has actively extended its presence in the countries along the Belt and Road routes in recent years. In Indonesia, Shaangu has established good partnerships with a number of metal smelting, chemical, power generation and other energy equipment manufacturing enterprises, to offer energy-saving and environmental protection equipment and system services for metallurgy, oil and gas fields.

China's Xiaomi-backed Viomi Technology debuts on Nasdaq -- Viomi Technology, a Xiaomi-backed Chinese seller of internet-connected home appliances, debuted on the Nasdaq stock exchange on September 25, trading under the ticker symbol of "VIOT." Viomi priced its initial public offering (IPO) of 11.4 million American Depositary Shares (ADSs) at 9.00 U.S. dollars per ADS for a total offering size of roughly 103 million dollars, assuming the underwriters do not exercise their option to purchase additional ADSs.

Tencent, Unionpay jointly launch two-way cross-border payment -- China’s tech giant Tencent and Unionpay jointly launched two-way cross-border payment service to facilitate Hong Kong resident’s travel and consumption in the mainland of China, according to official announcement from Tencent. The new payment service will be available from this October covering many merchants in the mainland of China, such as, Didi hailing service and Meituan. It means that Hong Kong residents could buy rail tickets, order take-outs and pay online car-hailing fees using Wechat pay HK, Tencent announced in Shenzhen on Wednesday.

Chinese companies and Kazakhstan's national railway firm to jointly develop cross-border e-commerce -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Yili Baitexing Commercial Trading Co., Ltd. lately signed a strategic cooperation agreement with KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's national railway company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) on co-developing cross-border e-commerce. According to the agreement, all parties will jointly develop cross-border e-commerce between China and Europe, taking full advantage of the current logistics infrastructure of KTZ Express including the land port of Altynkol, Horgos (known as Khorgos in Kazakh) special economic zone, transport and logistics centers, airports and Aktau port. Cargo transportation, undertaken by KTZ Express, is expected to reach 1 million tonnes annually.

China's English learning platform LAIX makes NYSE debut -- LAIX Inc., a Chinese English learning platform driven by artificial intelligence (AI) technology, rang the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) opening bell on September 27 in celebration of its initial public offering (IPO), trading under the ticker symbol of "LAIX." LAIX priced its initial public offering of 5,750,000 American depositary shares (ADSs) at 12.50 U.S. dollars per ADS for a total offering size of roughly 71.9 million dollars, assuming the underwriters do not exercise their over-allotment option to purchase additional ADSs.

Huawei awards certificates to talented Bulgarian students -- Chinese telecom giant Huawei here on September 27 awarded certificates to Bulgarian students who recently participated in the company's global program Seeds for the Future. The program was launched in 2008 to discover local ICT talents and provide them with scholarships and two-week training sessions in China.
