CHENGDU, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Belt and Road Initiative has created various opportunities for China-Azerbaijan cooperation, according to Akram Zeynalli, Azerbaijani Ambassador to China in an interview with Xinhua Silk Road.
The Ambassador made the comment after the inauguration ceremony of the "Belt and Road National Pavilion Group" in the South Sichuan Port Area (SSPA) of China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), one of the series activities of the ongoing 6th China Luzhou Southwest Commodity Expo in southwest China’s Sichuan.
In the areas of infrastructure facilities, for example, the railway connecting Georgia and Turkey currently under construction is expected to help Chinese goods enter southern Europe, which will become an important part of China-Europe freight trains, according to the Ambassador.
The two countries have achieved deep cultural exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative as well and Azerbaijan now offers visa on arrival for Chinese tourists, said the Ambassador.
We choose location-advantageous Luzhou for our first national pavilion in Sichuan, which is one of the Chinese provinces that Azerbaijan holds close relationships with along the Belt and Road construction, according to the Ambassador.
Since SSPA of China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) settled in Luzhou in April of 2017, it has boosted economic trade between Luzhou and multiple countries and regions.
Apart from Azerbaijan, exhibitors from Moldova, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Israel, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also showcased their feature products at the Expo. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
