BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- 2018 The 6th China Luzhou Southwest Commodity Expo kicked off on Friday in southwest China's Luzhou city where the South Sichuan Port Area (SSPA) of China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) is located.
Exhibitors from 17 countries along the Belt and Road routes attended the expo which has set up 800 booths in the main exhibition area, a cultural and creative pavilion, and Belt and Road national pavilions.
The expo offers a platform for exhibitors to share dividends of free trade and to jointly build the Belt and Road. Luzhou will create a high-quality and more efficient business environment for enterprises, said Jiang Fuyi, secretary of the Luzhou Municipal CPC Committee.
Luzhou has the basic conditions and successful experience in hosting large-scale exhibitions. The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) will continuously support development of the local convention and exhibition industry. The expo will provide new impetus for expanding consumption, exporting goods and attracting investment, said Fu Yan, an official of the MOC.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the relations with China and is willing to further develop partnerships with China in various fields under the Belt and Road Initiative. Through the expo, Azerbaijan can introduce its best quality products to consumers in Luzhou, said Akram Zeynalli, Azerbaijani ambassador to China, at the opening ceremony of the expo.
After five years of development, the expo has helped numerous "Made-in-Sichuan" products go out from Sichuan to the world.
As one of the important exhibitions in Sichuan Province, the expo has become an iconic activity for Luzhou to show its openness in cooperation, said Zheng Pengbin, an official of Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce.
Luzhou has rich experience in holding large-scale exhibition activities. With the steadily expanding scale and increasing products with higher quality, more and better exhibition projects are expected to settle in Luzhou, said Jiang Ming, president of the China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC).
Themed on New Era, New Trade, and New Luzhou, the expo is hosted by CGCC and organized by government of Luzhou City with support from Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce and Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
