BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province, welcomed its first freight train specially for imported grains on Wednesday, marking the official operation of the first inland designated inbound grain port in China.
A total of 545.49 metric tons (tonnes) of flaxseed imported from Canada were transported via the freigh train to Zhengzhou Port after being shipped from Vancouver Port to Tianjin Port.
The grain import port is located in China (Henan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. With the help of an intermodal transportation network, it enables the grain importers in China's central and western regions to shorten the delivery time and reduct costs.
Equipped with a joint inspection station, the port can provide complete customs services for importers and effectively monitor the quality of imported raw grain. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
