BEIJING, Sept.27 (Xinhua) –Chinese tech giant Huawei together with Italian Telecom Italia Group (TIM) and Fastweb recently put the first 5G base station that complies with Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard into commercial use, yidaiyilu.gov.cn reported on Wednesday.
This 5G base station adopts Huawei’s end-to-end 5G equipment.
The three parties also jointly displayed ten commercial-use scenarios of 5G network at Bari technological exhibition center.
TIM and Fastweb plan to deploy 5G commercial network in two Italian cities of Bari and Matera, and expect to accomplish 75 percent of customer coverage in two cities by the end of 2018.
As a business partner of TIM and Fastweb for many years, Huawei has been providing end-to-end 5G commercial equipments for TIM and Fastweb in areas such as Core Network, Access Network, and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). (Edited by Jiang Feifan, Niu Huizhe)
