The security sector in Germany is making increasing use of digital technology. About one-fourth of the industry's total revenues of 17 billion euros (19.9 billion dollars) last year was accounted for by electronic security technology, the Essen Fair company said in previewing the fair "Security" which begins on Tuesday. The only segment with higher business volume were the guard and safety service companies.
Through Friday, some 950 exhibitors from 40 countries will be showing their latest products in the security branch. Be it controls at the front door, protection against break-ins, or fire prevention, the Essen Fair said, it is smart, networked products that are playing an ever-increasing role in the sector.
