BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania has obvious geographical advantages, perfect infrastructure and continuously improved investment environment and is willing to play the role as a portal of China-Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in the financial cooperation.
The remark is made by Lithuanian Minister of Economy Virginius Sinkevius when attending the Summer Davos 2018 in north China’s coastal city of Tianjin last week.
Lithuania is China's largest trading partner in the Baltic region, while China is Lithuania's largest trading partner in Asia.
According to statistics of China's Ministry of Commerce, in 2017, the bilateral trade volume was 1.86 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 27.5 percent. Among them, China's exports to Lithuania were 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, up 23.9 percent year on year; while its imports were 260 million U.S. dollars, up 55.6 percent year on year.
Virginius Sinkevius said that Lithuania hopes to attract more Chinese investment. Lithuania has established seven free economic zones in major economic regions of the country, providing attractive tax incentives and convenient administrative approval procedures for enterprises entering the zones.
