BEIJING, Sept.19 (Xinhua) – The Hambantota Port in southern Sri Lanka, the member of Hambantot International Port Group (HIPG) recently signed its first Terminal Service Agreement (TSA) with Japan’s K-Line PTE Limited (KLPL), one of the world’s largest maritime operators.
The signing of the agreement is to improve the throughput capacity at Hambantota Port and to enhance the partnership with KLPL in the future, according to Ren Rui, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HIPG.
It is noted that the Hambantota Port project was initiated last December, under which China Merchant Holdings (CM Port) and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority had co-established such two joint ventures as Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Hambantota International Port Service Limited for business operations and administrative management of Hambantota Port.
