BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The “Belt and Road Heart-to-Heart” China Bookshelf Donation ceremony was initiated with a ceremony held in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 12.
Nearly 1,000 high quality books were donated to local school libraries, government and various community reading rooms.
South Africa has already incorporated Chinese language into national education system, and Chinese culture is widely welcomed by the South African people, according to Ruan Ping, Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg.
These books would help South African people learn more about China thus help strengthen friendship and bilateral ties, according to David Monyae, director with the University of Confucius Institute. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
