September 11, 2018

Abstract : The preparation work for the 2nd NEXT Summit (Hangzhou 2018) formally kicked off in Hangzhou of east China's Zhejiang Province on September 10, according to the organizing committee.

HANGZHOU, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The preparation work for the 2nd NEXT Summit (Hangzhou 2018) formally kicked off in Hangzhou of east China's Zhejiang Province on September 10, according to the organizing committee.

The 2nd NEXT summit, focusing on optimal practices among some 500 delegates from New Zealand, China as well as across the globe and seeking a new pathway for global cooperation, is jointly hosted by China Economic Information Service, the Oceania Silk Road Network (OSRN), and Zhejiang University.

OSRN Chairman Dr. Yang Jian, a New Zealand MP, said the 2018 Hangzhou Summit will invite Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations as a guest of honor.

New Zealand always advocates multilateral cooperation, said Peter Goodfellow, President of the New Zealand National Party and OSRN's honorary chairman.

It is in accordance with the interests of all parties to build a cross-continental, all-industry, efficient and pragmatic international cooperation platform with the summit as a medium, Goodfellow said, adding the platform will combine political, business and academic circles to explore and improve the new concepts, thoughts and mechanisms of international cooperation.

The summit will focus on five industry areas: public service, energy and infrastructure; robot, artificial intelligence and blockchain; food, health and husbandry; education, tourism and cultural creativity; innovation and transformation of scientific & technological research.

The inaugural Next Summit was held in November last year in Auckland under the theme of innovation, cooperation, and development, to which United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a congratulatory message. (Edited by Zhang Yuan, [email protected])
