Experts calls for cooperation in East Asia marine economy and technology

QINGDAO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- To enhance the ability and level of commercialization of scientific and technological achievements is key for marine science and technology innovation and cooperation, said experts at the East Asia Marine Summit Forum lately held in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong province.

The advanced marine science and technology will bring profound changes to human life and industrial development, said Pan Delu, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, at the forum.

With fast development of coastal tourism, light submersible research and development, manned deep diving global scientific research, deep sea science will highlight the marine technology application and cooperation in East Asian countries, said Yu Hongjun, director of the National Deep Sea Center.

Yu forecast a trend of systemization of technical equipment R&D and R&D platform, internationalization of technical equipment sharing application, and operationalizationof deep sea scientific research activities in the field of deep see high technology.

Cao Wenzhong, vice president of China Economic Information Service believed that professional information service and exchange platforms are indispensable for marine economy development, ecological protection, scientific and technological innovation and international cooperation.

Pan Delu suggested prioritized marine information cooperation in the fields of marine environment, equipment, and industrial management. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, Niu Huizhe)
