BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China is expected to introduce new policies to promote high-quality development of the logistics industry, the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily reported on Monday.
China's modern logistics service system has begun to take shape, with the industry scale ranking first in the world, said He Liming, president of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP).
Meanwhile, industry insiders also point out that problems such as big but not strong, high cost and low efficiency still hinder the development of the domestic logistics industry. Unbalanced development is still more prominent.
In response to the situation, the Chinese authorities have successively introduced policies and measures to promote the healthy development of the industry.
For example, in 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) unveiled a guideline to promote green packaging in the express delivery industry.
In addition to the policy support, a flood of capital investment also spurs development of the logistics industry. Some logistics companies, including YUNDA Ltd and S.F. Holding, went public. Cainiao, JD.com and Suning, and other enterprises with logistics real estate as the core have also quickened the pace for the integration of logistics and capital.
Data of the NDRC shows that in the first seven months of the year, the total value of products carried by the logistics sector rose to 154.1 trillion yuan (about 22.4 trillion U.S. dollars), a year-on-year increase of nearly 7 percent. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
