Hainan Airlines celebrates 10th anniversary of Berlin-Beijing direct flight -- Hainan Airlines celebrated here on September 5 the 10th anniversary of its direct flight between Berlin and Beijing together with Berlin Tegel Airport. "Since Sept. 5, 2008 Hainan Airlines has operated direct flights between Berlin and Beijing, which has witnessed and greatly promoted the cultural exchange and economic development between two countries," Zhiwei Shi, assistant general manager of marketing, sales department of Hainan Airlines, told Xinhua.
JD, Ruyi reach strategic cooperation in unbounded retail, finance, and logistics -- Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com on September 4 inked a strategic cooperative agreement with Shandong Ruyi, joining forces in areas such as brand entry, unbounded retail, finance, logistics, intelligent supply chain and JD Cloud, according to cs.com.cn. In the meantime, the two parties would co-establish Ruyi-JD fashion industry innovation development fund to invest in global famous fashion brands and incubate new fashion brands.
Net profit of China's Haier up 10 pct in H1 -- The Qingdao Haier Co. Ltd., one of the world's leading home appliance makers, said its net profit in the first half of the year grew 10 percent to 4.86 billion yuan (about 712.5 million U.S. dollars). The company's operating revenue climbed 14.19 percent to 88.59 billion yuan during the period, it said in the H1 financial report filed to the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Its revenue from overseas sales reached 35.8 billion yuan, accounting for 40.4 percent of the total. Sales on the Chinese mainland surged 24.46 percent while that from the rest of the world rose 2.06 percent in H1.
Carmaker BYD launches car app development platform -- Chinese carmaker BYD rolled out an open platform for developing applications for smart cars on September 5 at a developer conference held in Shenzhen city, south China. Smart cars are often equipped with advanced technologies such as self-driving, self-parking, web and email access, voice control and various embedded sensors. The platform, named D++, will offer an open application programming interface, as well as vehicle data and control permissions for developers. It is expected that developers will be able to access 66 control permissions and parameter of 341 sensors in the cars, according to the company.
Alipay active users in China exceeds 700mln, Ant Financial CEO -- Alipay, the world’s leading mobile and online payment platform operated by Ant Financial Services Group, now has more than 700 million active users in China, said Jing Xiandong, CEO of Ant Financial, according to the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News. Jing also announced in Tokyo on September 5 that Alipay would cooperate with local Japanese partners to accelerate building a cashless environment for tourists going to Japan, especially for the Tokyo Olympics Games in the 2020.
SF Airlines opens new cargo line linking Shenzhen, Singapore -- SF Airlines, the aviation branch of China's express giant SF Express, on September 4 opened a new direct all-cargo air route linking Shenzhen, in south China's Guangdong Province, with Singapore. The new cargo route will be operated by B767-300 cargo freighters, representing the company's latest step in expanding its international route network and enhancing its global presence, according to SF Airlines.
China's Huawei, UAE network join hands to offer Internet TV service in Mideast -- Chinese tech giant Huawei announced on September 4 that it will join forces with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) to offer Internet TV service in the Middle East. Huawei on September 4 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OSN, the leading entertainment network in the Middle East, to offer the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service, the Chinese telecom equipment giant said in a statement.
Chinese machinery manufacturer delivers mining equipment to South Africa -- A leading Chinese machinery manufacturer has delivered six pieces of mining equipment to South Africa, the company said on September 4. According to Xuzhou Construction Machine Group (XCMG), the order included three XDA40 mining winches, one XE470D excavator, one GR2405 mining grader and one LW1200KN, the largest-tonnage loader model in China.
Poly brings light to more places -- Beijing-headquartered conglomerate China Poly Group Corp is planning to provide more remote and rural areas in Africa with clean and affordable solar power and quality-verified off-grid lighting and energy products. The company will look to tap rural and remote areas in Africa, including Uganda and Tanzania, to provide alternative lighting and energy sources for the off-grid population, Zhang Zhengao, president of China Poly Group, said during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing.
