BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- China and Costa Rica have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly promote construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, according to the website of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Since establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Costa Rica, the two sides have yielded fruitful results in various fields. The signing of the MOU will inject a strong and lasting impetus into their pragmatic cooperation and bring their strategic partnership to a new level, said the Chinese ambassador to Costa Rica Tang Heng at the signing ceremony.
China and Costa Rica have vigorously carried out cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, culture, education and science and technology since establishment of diplomatic relations 11 years ago. The government of Costa Rica is willing to take the agreement as an opportunity to explore complementary advantages and deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in various fields, according to Epsy Campbell Barr, Vice President and Foreign Minister of Costa Rica.
