BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Located in Tianjin, a FAW-Volkswagen base in North China completed its construction and was put into operation.
It is estimated that the annual production capacity of the newly-established base will reach 300,000 units.
The base will mainly produce auto models, including Volkswagen brand and the Audi brand SUV. FAW-Volkswagen will enter the mid- to high-end auto market with the new Volkswagen SUV models produced here.
By 2020, the accumulated investment in the North China base will reach 13 billion yuan. The base will also provide industrial talents for regional economic development, directly bring nearly 3,500 jobs and more than 1,500 external suppliers, and create more than 20,000 new jobs in the future.
