BEIJING, Aug.29 (Xinhua) --- Chinese enterprises’ outbound direct investment (ODI) in 55 countries along Belt and Road totaled 9.05 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2018, down 10.3 percent year on year, accounting for 12.7 percent of the country’s ODI in the period, data with the Ministry of Commerce showed Tuesday.
The investment was mainly headed to Singapore, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.
Chinese enterprises signed new contracts worth 57.11 billion U.S. dollars with 61 countries along the Belt and Road in the first seven months of the year, accounting for 45.6 percent of the total overseas project contracts.
At the same time, the turnover of these contracts along the Belt and Road reached 45.08 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 53.8 percent of the total and representing a year-on-year increase of 17.9 percent. (Edited by Jiang Feifan and Yang Yifan, jiangfeifan@xinhua.org, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
