China's outbound investment sees steady growth in Jan.-July period -- Chinese investors made 65.27 billion U.S. dollars of non-financial ODI in nearly 4,000 overseas enterprises in 152 countries and regions from January to July, the Ministry of Commerce said. It marked a 14.1-percent increase from the same period a year ago. ODI in countries along the Belt and Road rose 11.8 percent from a year earlier to 8.55 billion U.S. dollars.
China's bond issuance decreases in July -- The value of bonds issued in China last month totaled 3.5 trillion yuan (about 508.8 billion U.S. dollars), down from 4.1 trillion yuan in June, official data showed. Treasury bond issuance stood at 337.3 billion yuan, while local government bond issuance was 757 billion yuan, according to the People's Bank of China (PBOC).
China's insurance premium income falls in H1 -- China's insurance sector saw premium income fall 3.33 percent year on year to 2.2 trillion yuan (about 319.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of the year, according to official data.The drop slightly narrowed from the 5.9-percent fall seen in the first five months.
China's farm produce prices continue to climb -- Prices of farm produce in China continued to climb in the week ending Aug. 19, with a rise in the cost of 30 types of vegetables and poultry products, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed on August 21. The price index for farm produce went up 1 percent in the past week, following a 0.8 percent gain the previous week, while the index for production materials edged up 0.1 percent.
China's domestic tourism revenue hits 2.45 tln yuan in H1 -- China's domestic tourism industry brought in 2.45 trillion yuan (358.9 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2018, up 12.5 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on August 22. During H1, Chinese tourists also made more than 71.3 million overseas trips, up 15 percent year on year, according to the ministry.
China's use of online apps increases during H1 -- The number of people using internet apps in China increased during the first half of 2018, a report on internet development revealed on August 20. Online financial service users increased by 39.74 million as of June 2018, up 30.9 percent from the end of 2017, said the report, the 42nd of a bi-annual series released by the China Internet Network Information Center.
China posts foreign exchange deficit in July -- Chinese banks sold a net 2.9 billion yuan (about 420 million U.S. dollars) of foreign exchanges to clients in July, the first deficit within four months, after a surplus of 47.3 billion yuan in June, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange reported. Last month, the banks bought a total of 1.13 trillion yuan in foreign currency and sold 1.19 trillion yuan, also resulting in a deficit of 63 billion yuan, according to the administration.
