The speciality chemicals company Evonik wants to manufacture pyrogenic silica in China with a partner in the future in order to satisfy the increasing demand for silicone, adhesives and sealants as well as for paints and varnishes. The company is creating a joint venture to this end with the Chinese firm Wynca. Evonik will hold 60 percent of the joint venture, the company announced Monday in Essen. Their plans include setting up a factory with an annual production of 8,000 tons of pyrogenic silica. Evonik said it wants to make an investment in the mid-double-digit million Euro range in the process. The plant should go into operation in 2021.
