HAIKOU, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province has recently updated its visa-free policy to help facilitate visa-free entry for tourists from 59 countries.
According to a notice released by Hainan authorities, visitors are required to declare personal information, 48 hours in advance, through Hainan's travel agencies. The local travel agencies are required to submit the personal information of the tourists to relevant departments 24 hours prior to their entry, so that they can visit Hainan visa-free.
The personal information includes tourist passport, round-trip airfare, hotel reservation order, and travel itinerary in Hainan.
Tourists from the 59 countries can use the visa-free policy if they start or transit in countries and regions with direct flights to Hainan.
The visa-free tourists can stay in Hainan for up to 30 days. If the visa-free tourist has a valid reason to extend stay in Hainan or travel to other areas of China, he or she needs to contact the local travel agency in Hainan to handle visa procedures. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
