BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Nanning Wuxu International Airport on August 9 officially opened the direct airline linking Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with Moscow, which was its second intercontinental airline of Guangxi, as well as its first airline to Europe.
The launch of the airline will further expand the channels of Nanning to connect the world, and accelerate the internationalization process of Guangxi and Nanning.
Recent years, Nanning Airport has expanded the international airlines and given support the development of regional economy under the Belt and Road Initiative. It opened nine international airlines along the Belt and Road routes, linking Nanning with Moscow, Cairo, Aswan, Manila, Brunei, and Sabah.
In the first half of this year, the passenger throughput of Nanning Airport reached 7.29 million, up 9.3 percent year on year.
The newly-opened airline will provide more efficient and convenient transportation choices for cooperation and communication in the fields of economy and trade, culture and tourism between Nanning and Moscow, promote cooperation and mutual prosperity, and help the two cities to share the dividends brought by the Belt and Road Initiative.
