Heineken joins forces with China's largest brewer -- Heineken has agreed on a partnership with China Resources Enterprise (CRE) and China Resources Beer (CR Beer), a market leader in the world's largest beer market -- China, the Dutch brewer and their Chinese counterparts announced on August 3.

Chinese firm Holitech to invest USD200 mln in India for components producing for Xiaomi -- Mobile-phone manufacturing company Xiaomi announced on August 6 the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its key components making firm "Holitech Technology," to start manufacturing key components in the country's southern state of Andhra Pradesh. The MoU was signed in the state's Vijaywada district in the presence of state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Chinese market boosts Mercedes-Benz sales to reach new record-- Strong demand from Chinese market boosts the sales of German carmaker Mercedes-Benz to reach a new record in the first seven months of 2018, a statement of the Stuttgart-based company showed on August 6. A total of 392,780 units have been delivered to Chinese customers from January to July 2018, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.1 percent.

China Vanke reports surging sales in July -- Real estate developer China Vanke reported rising sales in July, according to a company statement filed to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on August 6. The company posted a 26.9-percent year-on-year increase of property sales on contracts, which reached 45.14 billion yuan (about 6.6 billion U.S. dollars) in July.Sales in terms of area stood at 3.07 million square meters last month, the statement said.

VIPKid has big plans for global growth -- VIPKid, China's largest online education startup, announced on August 7 that it will expand its business to 10 cities globally, expanding overseas right after a fresh round of financing in late June. The company plans to set up branches and expand both its English and Chinese business in 10 cities abroad including Seoul, Tokyo, London, Singapore, Madrid and Buenos Aires in the next three years. Carrefour to continue sustainable development in China -- Carrefour will continue to pursue sustainable development in the Chinese market, a public relations executive from Carrefour China has told Xinhua. The executive, who wished to remain anonymous, said all 270 Carrefour stores in China were operating normally. The executive expressed confusion at the article's claims, saying the staff cuts, cooperation with Tencent and Yonghui as well as greater focus on e-commerce was outdated news already announced at the beginning of this year.

Mafengwo helps Australia woo more Chinese tourists -- Chinese travel services and social networking platform Mafengwo has teamed up with Australia's tourism authority to help attract more Chinese tourists.Tourism Australia will improve its tourism information and products on Mafengwo's mobile app and leverage the online travel community's abundant data to offer customized tourist services for users, especially individual travelers, according to an MOU on the strategic partnership signed on August 6.

China Daisy, Savills partner for joint venture -- China Daisy Group, a leading financial service provider in China, has partnered with Savills to establish a joint-venture property service enterprise, aiming to expand its business in property and asset management services, according to the group's top management. According to the agreement, each party will cooperate in property and asset management, promotion of value-added services, extension of the industry's value chain and other areas, sharing resources in terms of projects, management experiences and technology platforms.

PepsiCo powers up its China food presence --PepsiCo highlighted its strong and growing presence in China, announcing plans at the start of the month to invest 100 million U.S. dollars to expand and transform its Shanghai Songjiang Foods plant.The investment will establish new manufacturing lines and introduce advanced packaging and warehouse technologies to expand and fully modernize the factory.
