The 500 largest German firms according to turnover have made clear gains once again last year, according to a new survey.
The German daily “Welt” and the consultancy Accenture calculated a total increase in revenues of 4.8 percent in 2017 for their annual ranking. In addition, the top 500 companies employed 3.6 percent more employees last year than in 2016. 66 companies posted declining revenues. The chemical company BASF was even able to increase its revenues by 12 percent. The Ludwigshafen-based firm recorded total revenues of 64.47 billion euros and ranked once again among the ten companies with the highest turnover in absolute terms thanks to that result. VW took the top spot in the list with revenues of 230.68 billion euros.
