Second half of Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project to start early next year -- The construction of major parts of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project linking Bangkok with Nakhon Ratchasima in northeastern Thailand is scheduled to get started early next year, said a senior Thai official here on July 23. The third phase of the rail construction between Kaeng Khoi and Nakhon Ratchasima and the fourth phase between Bangkok and Kaeng Khoi, each covering a 119 km distance, are scheduled to begin in March and April next year respectively, said Sucheep Suksawang, chief construction engineer of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), which is in charge of the 179 billion Baht (about 5.26 billion U.S. dollars), some 253-km-long high-speed rail project.

China-aided Liberia parliament building auxiliary project delivered -- The handover ceremony of the China-aided auxiliary building project of the Liberia parliament building was held on July 19. Constructed by Jiangsu Jiangdu Construction Group, the auxiliary building was built over 20 months' time. The successful completion of the auxiliary building is powerful manifestation of the cooperation between China and Liberia, said Fu Jijun, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia.

Silk Road Fund to invest solar power project in Dubai -- Silk Road Fund and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) lately inked an investment agreement on a solar power project in Dubai. Under the agreement, Silk Road Fund, DEWA and International Company for Water and Power Projects of Saudi Arabia (ACWA Power) will co-finance the solar power project. Located in Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the 700MW solar power project is the largest solar power plant in the world and an important component of Dubai Clean Energy Strategy. Silk Road Fund invests in the project as an equity investor and the EPC contractor of the project is Shanghai Electric Generation Group.

First interchange overpass built by Chinese firm in Mongolia opens to traffic -- The main bridge of the Yarmag overpass in Mongolia's capital Ulan Bator built by China Railway 20 Bureau Group Co., Ltd. recently opened to traffic. It's the first interchange overpass built by a Chinese firm in Mongolia. As the largest municipal engineering project currently in Mongolia, the bridge will greatly improve traffic congestion in the capital. The 4,312.2-meter interchange designed with a two-way, four-lane road is the main route to Chinggis Khaan International Airport and the development zone from downtown Ulan Bator.

China-Myanmar oil pipeline carries more than 10 mln t crude to China -- The China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline has been running smoothly for 425 days, unloading 47 oil tankers of 10.98 million metric tons (tonnes) of crude oil as of July 17 since May 19, 2017, according to news release by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The first phase of the China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline is designed to have a transportation capacity of 13 million tonnes annually. The China-Myanmar pipeline transported fine quality crude from international market to refineries in Yunnan province, effectively filling the blank of refined oil production in Yunnan and driving the upgrading of the petrochemical industry in China's southwest regions.

Second stage of Yamal LNG project to be launched next month -- Russian gas producer Novatek said July 19 that it plans to launch the second production line of the Yamal liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in early August. "The project will reach its full capacity early next year," Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson was quoted by TASS news agency as saying. Located in Russia's Yamal Peninsula in the Arctic, the project is owned by Novatek (50.1 percent), France's Total (20 percent), China National Petroleum Corporation (20 percent) and China's Silk Road Fund (9.9 percent). The project will consist of three production lines with each having a capacity of 5.5 million tons per year. The first production line started operation in December 2017 and the third one is expected to be commissioned in 2019.

Indonesia's Mamuju power plant built by Chinese firm achieves full-load trial operation -- China Railway 11 Bureau Group Co., Ltd. announced on July 18 that the No.1 unit of the Indonesian Mamuju 2×25MW coal-fired power plant project built by the group had completed 168-hour continuous stable operation with a load rate of 95.5 percent, marking the plant's entry into trial operation. The Mamuju power plant project is located in Mamuju, West Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It is an important project of China Railway 11 Bureau Group in Indonesian market.

CGN buys into Swedish power project -- China's major nuclear power operator, China General Nuclear Power Corp, has acquired a 75 percent stake in a wind power project in Sweden, according to a statement from CGN on July 17. CGN Europe Energy signed an agreement with Australian energy company Macquarie Group and US-based General Electric Co to purchase the majority stake in Sweden's North Pole wind power project, the largest onshore wind farm in Europe. The North Pole project, the largest single-site onshore wind installation in Europe, is expected to have 179 wind turbines that will deliver 650 megawatts of power and provide power for 400,000 families.
