BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 Gymnasiade for teens will be hosted in east China's Jinjiang city. The executive committee of Gymnasiade 2020 is now soliciting theme songs and mascots for the game across the world with total cash rewards of nearly one million yuan.
Entries of both theme songs and mascots of 2020 Gymnasiade are welcome until August 15, 2018. The winning mascot designer and the winning song writer each will be awarded with 200,000 yuan (before tax). Other prize-winning works will be awarded with cash prizes ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 yuan (before tax).
The winners will stand out after initial selection, online voting and final selection by the judging panel and public voters and the final winning works will be presented to the public at a future press conference.
The Office of the Executive Committee of 2020 Gymnasiade hopes that the theme song and mascot works submitted by the applicants could embrace the slogan proposed by Jinjiang when biding for hosting the 2020 Gymnasiade -- "Better us better future". Award-winning works are also expected to reflect Gymnasiade's idea of "creating a lifelong beneficial experience for high school students".
The Gymnasiade, also known as World School Summer Games is an international multi-sport event gathering more than 3,000 young athletes from schools all around the world. Jinjiang, in east China's Fujian Province, won the bid to host the 2020 Gymnasiade in October 2017, becoming the second Chinese city to host the popular event after the 11th Gymnasiade in Shanghai in 1998.
