BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- China supports its Hainan Province to accelerate the construction of a modern integrated transportation system and promote the green development of the transportation, according to an implementation plan released by the Ministry of Transport, quoted by the Xinhua-run cs.com.cn.
According to the plan, Hainan will compile a medium- and long-term development plan for a comprehensive transportation system.
The province will enhance its hub status, focus on airports and ports to build cities such as Haikou and Sanya into integrated transportation hubs, and increase the international air routes.
Meanwhile, Hainan will strengthen its external passages and focus on the Qiongzhou Strait to build an integrated traffic corridor consisting of high-speed railways, highways, waterways, and other modes of transportation, so as to accelerate its integration into the national transport network.
In addition, Hainan will speed up the promotion and application of new energy vehicles and energy-saving and environmentally-friendly vehicles, actively guide the use of the new energy vehicles for rental services, and ensure that proportion of the new energy vehicles in the newly-added and replaced buses can reach 80 percent by the end of 2019.
