BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region saw its imports and exports with countries along the Belt and Road routes hit 104.11 billion yuan in the first half of 2018 with an increase of 9.5 percent from last year, benefiting from deeper interconnection to China’s neighbors in the South, according to statistics from the Nanning Customs.
In the first half of this year, small-scale trade of Guangxi in border areas soared 36.2 percent to 50.65 billion yuan, accounting for 27.9 percent of the total value of Guangxi's foreign trade, reflecting increased economic vitality of the border areas in the region.
Guangxi’s trade with major partners such as ASEAN and Hong Kong maintained relatively fast growths, and the exports of electromechanical and high-tech products and traditional labor-intensive products grew rapidly.
Guangxi has been actively participating in the construction of the gateway to the south and promoting imports and exports along the Belt and Road countries, as its imports and exports with Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia increased by 17.1 percent, 69.8 percent, and 47.8 percent, respectively.
