BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Local authorities in East China's Yangtze River Delta region have recently signed an agreement with the domestic leading telecom operators to carry out in-depth strategic cooperation in the construction of 5G infrastructure such as connections, hubs, computing, and perception.
Under the agreement, the largest 5G field technology test network in China will be built in the Yangtze River Delta this year and the region will initially put the 5G network into operation for commercial purposes in 2019.
In 2020, the Yangtze River Delta region will become one of the regions in China officially rolling out the 5G network for commercial use, according to the agreement.
According to a development plan for the urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta region, by 2021, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Tower will invest more than 200 billion yuan for 5G infrastructure construction in the Yangtze River Delta.
