BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Hainan provincial government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Southern Power Grid Co (CSG) on July 16, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported.
Under the agreement, the CSG will step up the construction of Hainan's main grid, continuously optimize the urban and rural power grid structure, further improve the reliability of power supply, and strive to reduce the average power outage time in the central urban area of Haikou and Sanya by less than one hour in 2020.
Hainan provincial governor Shen Xiaoming hopes CSG would continue to increase investment, strengthen key project construction, comprehensively improve the company’s power supply reliability and disaster resistance, support Hainan's construction of green energy island, and gradually establish a power supply and service system that is compatible with the free trade zone and free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
The CSG has formulated 26 key measures to support Hainan to deepen reform and opening up, said CSG chairman Li Qingkui, adding that the company will further accelerate the construction of safe, reliable, green and efficient smart grid construction, continue to promote Hainan's power security capability, optimize the power business environment and strengthen clean energy dispatch in a bid to provide strong power support for the construction of Hainan free trade zone and free trade port.(Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
