BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Major high-tech companies in Zhongguancun, known as Beijing’s Silicon Valley, saw general income increase by 16.3 percent year on year to 1,914.67 billion yuan from January to May, according to the latest statistics released by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
Among the total, fields of environmental protection, electronics and information, new energy and high-efficiency energy-saving technology, new material and application technology, bioengineering and new medicine, and advanced manufacture witnessed their income grow 22 percent, 22 percent, 15.1 percent, 12.9 percent, 12.3 percent and 9.9 percent respectively.
During the period, a total of 575,000 employees engaged in research and development in Zhongguancun, up 7.7 percent year on year. (Edited by Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
