Huawei joins hands with Opera Garnier to build digital academy -- Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei lately signed a cooperation agreement with the Opera Garnier in Paris on co-building a global digital academy. Under the agreement, Huawei and Opera Garnier will jointly contribute a total of 900,000 euros to build the digital academy into a platform which integrates artistic works, data file and teaching content.

Great Wall Motor, BMW announce new energy auto JV -- Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor Company Limited announced on July 10 a joint venture (JV) with BMW, with each side holding a 50 percent stake in the new company of new energy automobiles. Named "Spotlight Automotive," the JV has registered capital of 1.7 billion yuan (256.6 million U.S. dollars), with Great Wall and BMW Holding each contributing 850 million yuan, Great Wall Motor Company Limited said in a notice.
Siemens inks MOU with Aliyun to boost development of industrial IoT in China -- Siemens Group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Aliyun, Alibaba's cloud computing subsidiary on July 9 in Berlin, to jointly promote the development of the industrial internet of things (IoT) in China. According to the MOU, Siemens and Aliyun will make full use of their respective advantages in technologies and industries to build a leading IoT platform to support “Industry 4.0” and China's manufacturing transformation and upgrading.
JAC, Volkswagen China and SEAT to co-build NEV R&D center -- Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp., Ltd. (JAC) announced on July 10 that it had inked cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Volkswagen China and SEAT, S.A. to jointly establish new energy vehicle (NEV) R&D center and co-develop pure electric vehicle platform.
The long-term goal of the R&D center would be a focus on electric vehicles, car networking and autonomous driving technology, according to the MOU.
Contemporary Amperex Tech. (300750.SZ) to build R&D center in Europe -- Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (300750.SZ) announced that it plans to build a production and R&D center in Europe to produce power batteries and develop related business. The project, located at Erfurt in the German state of Thuringia, will be conducted in stages, with the expected investment value for the first two stages standing at 240 million euros.
