BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) announced Friday that the No. 5 nuclear power unit of Yangjiang nuclear power plant had successfully completed 168-hour trial run and is now ready for commercial operation.
The No.5 unit of Yangjiang nuclear power is the first self-developed nuclear power unit in China that meets the main safety indicators of the third-generation nuclear technology. Its safe-grade DCS (digital instrumentation control system) adopts the “Hemu (harmony) system” independently developed by CGN, which realized the China-made "neural center" of the nuclear power plants.
China thus became the fourth country to master this technology after the United States, France, and Japan.
Yangjiang nuclear power plant’s unit No.5 first connected to the grid on May 23 of 2018 and is now ready for commercial use after trial operation at full load. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
