BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- BMW has inked a new long-term framework agreement with Brilliance Auto to further expand investment and production of their joint venture (JV) BMW Brilliance Automotive to build a new energy vehicle (EV) production base in China for the global market.
The JV is planned to increase annual production of vehicles at the two plants in China to 520,000 by 2019, according to a report by Shanghai Securities News.
In 2020, the first pure electric model of BMW core product series will be put into production in Shenyang which would be not only sold to Chinese consumers but also exported to the global market.
The JV BMW Brilliance has been in operation for 15 years, and has built two complete vehicle factories and one Power assembly plant. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
