BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- China's e-sports industry is growing rapidly in recent years, according to a report released by Beijing-based research firm CNG.
The market size of Chinese e-sports industry will exceed 88 billion yuan in 2018 and was expected to increase by 35 billion yuan within two years.
The report shows that Chinese e-sports players were expected to grow to 430 million in 2018 and the growth rate of China's e-sports users has remained above 20 percent in the past three years.
At present, the income of China's e-sports market mainly comes from games, live streaming, and e-sports competitions. In 2017, the market size of China's e-sports industry reached 77 billion yuan.
According to the estimation, there were more than 500 popular e-sport competitions in China in 2017, and the trend of commercialization is obvious.
The report said that the influence of a few e-sports competitions has already surpassed traditional sports events, and there is huge room for development in the future.(Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
