PARIS, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- A promotional campaign for the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition was held late Monday in Paris.
More than 150 guests, including officials of the International Exhibition Bureau (BIE), delegates of different member states in BIE, foreign diplomatic envoys to France, officials of French government, and other international friends attended the event organized by the Coordination Bureau of Beijing Expo, and expressed their appreciation and support for the Beijing Expo's concept of green development.
Lu Yan, Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government and Director General of the Coordination Bureau of Beijing Expo said, combining traditional arts and crafts with modern technological innovation, the Beijing Expo is aimed at highlighting horticultural achievements of all times and from all countries, and creating a professional horticultural exposition of high quality and high profile that integrates essence of all previous international horticultural expos and demonstrates prominent expertise, techniques and innovative ideas in horticulture of all countries in the world.
"Participants from all countries are warmly welcome to join in so as to build together a better worldwide green economic environment and contribute to the sustainable development of our planet," he said.
BIE Deputy Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes said the bureau highly praised the preparation works and looks forward to the upcoming Expo.
Chinese people have a long history and deep tradition in flower planting and horticulture, having contributed greatly to a number of important achievements that have changed the course of the world horticulture and taking a predominant role in world horticulture, said Kerkentzes.
Chinese Ambassador to France Zhai Jun said the Beijing Expo is a vital practice to highlight China's cultural soft power and to amplify international cooperation, which has a profound significance in enhancing friendly exchanges between Chinese and French people.
Themed as "Live Green, Live Better", the Beijing Expo will be held from April 29 to Oct. 7, 2019 in a planned area of 960 hectares located in Yanqing District, northwest Beijing.
According to the Coordination Bureau of Beijing Expo, over 70 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation. Enditem
