BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Four industrial projects broke ground in Wenjiang district in Chengdu city, Sichuan province, injecting fresh impetus to the local economic development.
Located at the Chengdu Modern Agriculture High-tech Park, with investment totaling 932 million yuan (139 million U.S. dollars), these projects range from urban agriculture to high-end healthcare and eco-tourism, all pillar industries in Wenjiang.
The high-tech park covers 167 square kilometers, 99 of which is arable land in northern Wenjiang. Boasting plentiful ecological resources, it was designated in 2017 as a characteristics zone for eco-tourism, flower plantation, rural sightseeing and creative agriculture.
Also being built at the park is a research institute into modern agricultural technology, which will serve as an important platform for the transfer of academic achievements by agriculture-related colleges and organizations.
The park aims to carry out 36 major industrial projects in 2018. The local government has launched 70 projects ranging from infrastructure to public facilities affecting industry services and people’s livelihoods.
To ensure smooth implementation of these projects, Wenjiang authorities have provided substantial support, including streamlining the approval process and creating a better business environment around the park.
