BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Xiamen King Long Motor Group (600686.SH) said on Thursday that its subsidiary Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SB Drive and Baidu Japan Inc. to supply self-driving electric vehicles to Japan in small numbers at the end of 2018 or at the beginning of 2019.
The self-driving electric vehicle, “Apolong”, which is marketed in China now, is jointly designed by King Long and Baidu in 2017.
SBD, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp., engaged with self-driving vehicles in public transport services, expects to have self-driving buses in Japan and considers “Apolong” a suitable product. (Edited by Yang Bize, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
