BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- China’s Dongfang Electric Co. (DEC) recently signed a contract for the Lake Hargy hydropower project in Papua New Guinea at the headquarters of PNG Power Ltd, according to the report of Securities Times.
Located on the west side of the New Britain Island in Papua New Guinea, the Lake Hargy hydropower project will further secure the island’s electricity supply upon the completion of the power station.
The project is jointly funded by the Asian Development Bank and the New Zealand government.
DEC successfully won the bid in the international open competitive bidding and it is the third contract that DEC recently signed in Papua New Guinea. (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
