BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The Maritime Silk Road Trade Index (STI) of May released by Ningbo Shipping Exchange shows China’s robust foreign trade with the countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
Under the STI, the Import and Export Trade Index closed at 150.57 points, up 7.11 percent from the previous month and up 18.28 percent from the same period of last year.
To be specific, the Export Trade Index closed at 159.82 points, up 6.78 percent month on month and up 11.94 percent year on year. The Import Trade Index closed at 139.68 points, up 7.57 percent month on month and also up 28.05 percent year on year.
In May 2018, China’s foreign trade with the countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road amounted to 88.628 billion U.S. dollars, of which the export trade amounted to 50.873 billion U.S. dollars and the import trade amounted to 37.755 billion U.S. dollars, both hitting the highs since 2014.
