BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A train loaded with 8 refrigerated containers of about 200 metric tons (tonnes) of frozen products arrived at a logistics park in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality recently, according to yidaiyilu.gov.cn.
This is the first time that the China-Singapore Southern Transport Corridor opens the sea-rail cold chain transportation service.
The Australian beef-filled containers were for the first time transported by sea to the Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port and then transferred to the railway.
Wang Yupei, chairman of China-Singapore Southern Transport Corridor (Chongqing) Logistics Development Co. said that in the next step, fresh food such as fruits and aquatic products will enter Chongqing in this way and will be sold to the surrounding regions.
