BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- As of June 20, China-Kazakhstan logistics base in Lianyungang city, east China’s Jiangsu province, dispatched 2,968 cross-border freight trains carrying 297,000 TEU of goods, according to the statistics released by Shanghai Railway Administration.
The base has created the new mode of logistics cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
As the first solid platform for the construction of Belt and Road, the China-Kazakhstan logistics base relies on Asia-Europe cross-border freight trains to actively promote the equalization of east-west two-way transport convection. Freight trains equipped with various types of goods such as auto parts, medical equipment and building materials have been shipped to Central Asia region.
At the same time, special products such as grains, cotton, and non-ferrous minerals from Kazakhstan are also exported to Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and other places via cargo trains from Lianyungang.
The Base in Lianyungang has become an international economic platform for transit, warehousing, logistics, and trade among the five countries in Central Asia. The Asia-Europe cross-border cargo trains departed from the base has covered more than 200 stations in five countries in Central Asia and extended to Istanbul, Turkey, and Duisburg, Germany.
