BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Yuanjiang major bridge across the Yuanjiang River along the China-Laos railway project in Yuxi, southwest China’s Yunnan province craned up steel girders on June 22, according to yidaiyilu.gov.cn.
Spanning a full length of 832.2 meters, the Yuanjiang bridge uses six bridge piers with the No.3 bridge pier standing at 154 meters, the highest pier of its kind worldwide.
Linking Yuxi in southwest China and Vientiane, capital of Laos, the China-Laos railway is expected to be fully operational in December 2021. Operating speed on the route is designed at 160km per hour. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
