BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan hospital facility upgrading aid project undertaken by a Chinese company began on June 15 in Aluthgama, a city in southern Sri Lanka.
It’s learned that the assistance construction project includes construction of outpatient clinics, inpatient departments, laboratories, operating rooms and emergency rooms of 13 hospitals in a duration of three years.
Tian Yaobin, deputy general manager of CETC International Co., Ltd., the project contractor, said that the project will be constructed according to local actual needs and will introduce advanced medical equipment to upgrade the level of local hospital infrastructure to serve local people.
Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Sri Lanka in the 1950s, China has helped Sri Lanka develop in many fields, and has also helped Sri Lanka build infrastructure facilities such as ports, highways and airports. In the future, the government of Sri Lanka will continue to maintain close cooperation with China under the Belt and Road Initiative.
