SHANGHAI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- East China’s Shanghai will strive to make the scale of integrated circuit (IC) industry surpass 200 billion yuan by 2020, with some indicators reaching the world leading level, said Fu Xinhua, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization at a forum held on June 15.
Statistics showed that the sales value of Shanghai’s IC industry approached 120 billion yuan in 2017, registering a year-on-year increase of 12 percent.
Shen Weiguo, chairman of the Board of the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund, noted that IC industry will center around supporting the development of 5G, automotive electronics and the Internet of Things (IoT) to guide emerging industries to realize a rapid growth.
As an area boasting the most complete industrial chain in the field of IC in China, Shanghai has over 500 IC-related enterprises and many leading companies including Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), Hua Hong Semiconductor Limited, Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co.
