BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Jiangxi Zhongmei Engineering Group Ltd. recently won the bid to assist construction of the highway project in suburban Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, with a contract value of 190 million yuan, according to the Agency for International Economic Cooperation (AIECO) of China’s Ministry of Commerce.
The project connects three towns in the northwest of Antananarivo, with a total length of approximately 19.25km. It consists of road construction of a main line and five connecting lines for and related safety facilities, bus stops and harbor-style parking zones. Construction on the project is expected to start before October 15, 2018, and end in 36 months.
This project is the largest foreign aid project that the company has won so far. It also marks the company’s entry into the Madagascar market.
The project aims to improve the infrastructure in the egg production area of Madagascar through road construction in order to promote economic development in the area and improve people’s living standards.
