In 2015, Guangxi approved 142 projects with foreign investment from 26 countries and regions, growing 2.9% from a year ago, while 86 of the projects were wholly funded by foreign investment. Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the region rose 72% to a historical high of 1.722 billion U.S. dollars, according to the region’s statistics bureau. In terms of industries, the region’s three main industries showed totally different attractions to foreign capital. The primary industry took up a very small proportion of FDI, which was 5.82% in 2015 and the proportion even presented a trend of falling year by year. The secondary industry in the region occupied the dominant position in attracting foreign capital. The tertiary industry maintained a vibrating proportion in the use of foreign capital and the proportion showed a downward trend in recent years.
